When an oil company such as Shell invests into the truck of the future to achieve record setting fuel economy people will notice.
The new comes from the Connecticut based AirFlow Truck Co. via our columnist Lyn Zbinden, who has recently joined the design team to contribute to the further, dramatic, improvement of its aerodynamic efficiency.
According to Mr. Zbinden: «This 2015 truck I am designing is for Shell in the U.K. and it will get 20 miles per gallon. The 2012 prototype now on regular service gets 14 already. Most Class 8 trucks get only 10 MPG. This is huge money to these companies, and achieved totally through proper aerodynamic design.

HYUNDAI BANKS ON SIZE, STYLE AND SPORTING IMAGE
FOR NEW i20 UNVEILING IN PARIS.
Hyundai has just released appealing renderings of its redesigned i20 due to premiere at the Paris Show and it is clear at first sight that the focus is on style. The outgoing first generation i20 launched in 2008 and restyled in 2012 sold very well in Europe and indeed did very well its job. With the contribution of the sub-compact (B segment) i20 hatchback, Hyundai Motor Europe achieved registrations of 422,930 units, last year, thus taking a new-car market share of 3.4%. However the brand can do better and reach the 500,000 units per year capacity available at its plants in the Czech Republic and Turkey, which serves 30 European countries.
Do not ask yourself what sense it makes to drive a 550 HP SUV downtown Manhattan, Moscow or in Shanghai. Some supercar enthusiast in Pebble beach could take the question as a provocation. Be politically correct and just acknowledge that this sort of heavy weight supercar might have and will have some followers around the world.
The successful Land Rover company has just announced that its first high-performance SUV that will carry the addition SVR badge, front and rear, is the new Range Rover Sport SVR. Jaguar will not wait for the Parisian "Mondial de l'Automobile" motor show (opening gates early next October) to officially unveil its trend setting Jaguar XE. The all-new mid-size sport sedan will make its world premiere in London on September 8th, according to a company statement.
According to Jaguar's officers their XE will be the first entry in the BMW 3 Series segment to feature «an aluminium-intensive monocoque, with lightweight aluminium accounting for 75 per cent of the structure». Its new body structure was first showcased at last year IAA in Frankfurt with the C-X17 SUV Concept.
The all-new modular architecture is the fifth generation of body structures developed by Jaguar applying its own bonded-and-riveted aluminium technology inspired by aerospace applications. The weight to stiffness ratio achieved «ensures that the XE is the most fuel-efficient Jaguar yet with fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on the NEDC combined cycle of over 75mpg and less than 100g/km respectively» claims the British maker.
