WHAT’S IN THE NAME SUPERLEGGERA.
Re Mini - What's in a name by the excellent Alec Setwrite I tend to agree with him and those who think that the MINI Superleggera Vision does not look like a MINI. Although the concept car is a two-seater roadster, its overall proportion is absolutely different from the current MINI Roadster. It has a lower silhouette and a longer bonnet. The form language is also much different from what BMW has developed for the MINI range.
It has sharper lines and tauter surfaces.
Nevertheless, I think the MINI Superleggera Vision can be recognized as a member of the MINI family. This is not only thanks to two circular headlights and a hexagonal grille, but also because of the minimalist design approach that harks back to the original MINI.
Since BMW re-established the MINI brand, the design of each MINI model have been a little bit complex.
They always have frills such as chrome mouldings that recall a 1960s style trend as well as black wheel-arch trims that make the front and rear overhangs appear shorter. But the MINI Superleggera Vision has none of them just like the original MINI.
The concept car suggests a MINI in the future can be a lot simpler without sacrificing the brand’s great heritage. In other words, I think it represents a broader spectrum of the future MINI design.
